Introduction

Ignacio Ayala is a founding partner, together with Horacio Oliva, of ‘Oliva-Ayala Abogados’ and is currently the Managing Partner of the firm. With more than 35 years of professional practice, his involvement in the most complex and relevant judicial matters is a guarantee of his extensive experience and he is currently one of the most sought-after lawyers for criminal advice and defence, especially in the business sector, as a result of his extensive experience in the courts and his participation in complex business negotiation processes, both in and out of court.

His procedural practice covers all branches of criminal law, as well as all procedural phases and international jurisdictions and his professional work and prestige in the Spanish legal market have been highlighted for years, among others, by the legal directories Chambers and Partners, Legal500 and Best Lawyers.

He currently directs the High Specialisation Course taught at the School of Legal Practice of the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition, he has carried out teaching and research tasks as Professor of Criminal Law at Complutense University of Madrid and has taught on the Master’s Degree in Law at Carlos III University of Madrid and at King Juan Carlos University of Madrid, among many other public institutions (Menéndez Pelayo University, General Council of the Spanish Judiciary, Institute of Fiscal Studies) and private institutions (Business Institute, Tax Lawyers Forum, Bar Association, ICADE) where he has been a speaker at various conferences and seminars.
He has published several research works related to offences against the Public Treasury where he is a leader in criminal practice.

EDUCATION

  • PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he obtained the highest mark for an innovative work on tax crime.
  • Graduate of the University Institute of Criminology.
