Rafael Alcácer Guirao has been a professor of Criminal Law since 2003, and currently carries out his teaching and research at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. He provides services for the firm Oliva-Ayala Abogados SLP through this institution Innovation and Transfer Unit (CINTTEC).
Education
Rafael holds a Doctorate in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a doctoral thesis on the theory of attempt that earned him the highest degree. During his time as a researcher under the Ramón y Cajal programme, he carried out several research stays at the Universities of Mannheim and Munich.
Experience
Rafael Alcácer Guirao is an expert in the theory of crime and procedural guarantees in criminal procedure, subjects on which he has published numerous monographs and taught courses and given conferences in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Chile, Dominican Republic, Peru and Argentina. He has also taught for several years the course of access to the Constitutional in-court representation at the Bar Association of Madrid. Among others, he has published the books “La protección de los derechos fundamentales en la extradición y la euroorden” and “El derecho una segunda instancia con todas las garantías”. In addition to his teaching and research, in 2001 and 2002 he served as a substitute Magistrate in the Provincial Court of Madrid and, before joining Oliva-Ayala Abogados through the Rey Juan Carlos University, he was a law clerk at the Constitutional Court for eight year.
His extensive theoretical and practical experience on the criminal process and the theory of criminal liability allows him to offer comprehensive legal advice, placing him in a superb position to successfully address the clients concerns.
